GOD'S WORD

NEVER CHANGES!

EASTER 2020

EASTER 2020

John 17:1-5 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

1.        THE PURPOSE OF EASTER

V1       To Glorify the Hour as the time had come

To Glorify the Son  It was time   - Matthew 26:18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

To Glorify the Father - Mark 1:11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

V2       TO REVEAL HIS POWER

To give Life to those that are known of the Father

John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

V3       To Acknowledge Life Eternal is “Truth”

To announce that it is only found in the true God – Jesus Christ

V4       WE HAVE FOUND THE FINISHED WORK BROUGHT TO US A NEW BEGINNING

John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

V5       TO RESTORE THE GLORY OF CHRIST THAT HE HAD IN HEAVEN BEFORE THE WORLD WAS EVER IN EXISTENCE

John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

2.        IN THE END OF EASTER

The Time brought about the end of His earthly ministry and began the Heavenly

John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

He was not of this world yet in this world He came to claim His own to take their sin debt and put it on an Old Rugged Cross.

John 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

Man must accept the end for this is opportunity for change of which he could never produce on His own.  It comes with a Glorius Transformation.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

3.        THE OBJECT OF EASTER

Before His return to Glory, Christ gave hope to those who had received.

John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

A.        The world was concerned about the yielding to their Law and Rules for their lives

John 19:42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

B.        His disciples were concerned about their Jesus had been stolen and taken away – But will soon realize that He is with them….

John 20:1-2 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

Matthew 28:7 – “ he is risen”

Matthew 18:10 – “be not afraid, go tell my brethren”  Jesus gives them assurance

c.         He was the living fulfillment of Scripture

John 20:9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

D.        He made provisions to accept their Love in the difficult moments and their hour of misunderstanding

John 20:11-16 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

E.         He confirmed what the world wanted to deny – It brought gladness to his disciples

John 20:20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

F.         He challenged the doubter

John 20:25-28 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

G.        He Rewarded the Faith

John 20:29-30 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

H.        It is all about His Glory

John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
